Sweat testing devices analyze sodium, potassium, and other electrolytes to supposedly customize hydration and nutrition plans. Companies like Gatorade, Lucozade, and newer startups market these tools directly to recreational athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The appeal is clear. If you know your individual sweat composition, the logic goes, you can drink and eat more efficiently.
The problem? Most young athletes and everyday exercisers don't need this level of detail. The American Academy of Pediatrics and sports dietitians consistently recommend simpler approaches.
