Starting in November, Discord's Discoverable Servers will have public web pages showing channel summaries and individual messages in Google Search results. These pages become searchable by mid-December.
Discoverable Servers are public Discord spaces with at least 1,000 members that anyone can join with an account. The change means people can view these discussions without signing up for Discord or joining the server.
Discord confirmed that private servers and direct messages will remain private. Server admins can disable specific channels from web pages through Server Settings > Web Presence. Individual members can prevent their messages from appearing in searches by toggling a setting under User Settings > Data and Privacy. However, members cannot opt out of having their messages used in channel summaries.
Messages sent before mid-December won't appear in search results regardless of your settings. If you enable discoverability and later disable it, any messages you sent between mid-December and the time you turned it off will remain searchable unless you delete them directly from Discord.
